What is NABERS UK?

NABERS (the National Australian Built Environment Rating System) is an independent, government-backed framework that measures a building’s operational energy performance, giving it a rating from 1 to 6 stars.

Unlike design-stage assessments, NABERS focuses on real-world performance, making it a trusted benchmark for investors, regulators, and occupiers.

In the UK, NABERS currently applies to:

  • NABERS Energy for Offices – measuring in-use energy performance for office buildings.
  • NABERS Design for Performance (DfP) – bridging the gap between predicted and actual performance for new developments and major refurbishments, ensuring assets meet their design intent.
