The Shift from Sustainable to Regenerative with Bywater Group

The Shift from Sustainable to Regenerative with Bywater Group

Bywater Group is pioneering a new model of real estate development centred on regenerative thinking, timber construction, whole-life carbon and systems-based design.

In this episode, Joe Jack Williams, Head of Regenerative Strategy at Bywater Group, explains why the future of property lies beyond conventional sustainability and how developers can create buildings that actively improve environmental, social and economic outcomes.

The conversation explores how Bywater's regenerative philosophy influences development briefs, embodied carbon, timber construction, circular economy principles and long-term asset resilience. Joe also discusses designing buildings for disassembly, the growing role of engineered timber, measurable sustainability targets, and why systems thinking will play an increasingly important role in shaping the next generation of real estate.

Throughout the episode, Joe shares practical insights into regenerative development, future-proofing assets and creating long-term value through better design, collaboration and innovation.
